Zelda Beryl (ベリル ゼルダ Beriru Zeruda) is a protagonist in Wild Hunt; a princess of the elven kingdom of Alfheim, Zelda grew tired of living a life she saw as nothing but a gilded cage, and so without so much as a warning, she ran off to see the world as a traveler. Equally disgusted by her people's arrogance as she is with the royal lifestyle, Zelda has high hopes of getting to properly know the world and see its many different peoples for who they are and not what she was told. Along the way, she met and became close friends with Gilgamesh Prime, and through him, she lived out many adventures and made many more friends.

Knowing she'd need proper self-defense, Zelda studied up on sorcery shortly before she left, and quickly took to learning command sorcery. In particular, Zelda uses a form of command sorcery known as Gold Command, which manipulates the physical structure and properties of nearby gold. To use it, Zelda relies on her golden hair bracelet which keeps her ponytail held up, which was given to her by her brother as a memento.

Zelda Beryl - ~Moko~ Artwork

Original concept artwork of Zelda's design, with a rearrangement of the hearts on her shirt, a parting of her bangs, a different sandal design, longer ponytail, and minus her hair beads; drawn by a close friend of Wyvern's, ~Moko~

The first impression one gets of Zelda, as befitting not only an elf, but also nobility, is that she is considered to be very attractive. As an elven young woman, Zelda has the natural slender and curvaceous features many of her race are known to have; notably her waist, legs and decently sized breast. On top of that, as elves tend to come in multiple different skin colors and shades, Zelda's skin is colored a light blue; indicative of the royal Beryl family. Likewise, she has inherited her father's purple hair, as well as sporting a pair of equally purple eyes. Despite her age of thirty eight, due to her race's longer lifespan, Zelda's face reflects her real level of maturity when compared to human years: A nineteen year old young lady. And so she tends to look quite youthful in spite of the decades she's been alive. Obviously included are her pair of long, pointed elven ears, which grow only a few inches longer than a human's. Also as a side note, due to how elves share a red blood coloration as humans do, Zelda tends to blush a shade of purple whenever she's worked up or embarrassed, as the red blood mixes with the blue color of her skin.

Upon her introduction to the story, and throughout most of it, Zelda's hair is normally kept up in a long ponytail by the memento from her brother; a piece of gold that Zelda has fastened into a hair band with her acquired Gold Command sorcery, in order to keep the gold on hand and tucked away. The length of the ponytail itself goes down to Zelda's upper back and shoulder-blades, and when using her golden hair band for her Gold Command, the ponytail comes undone and allows Zelda's hair to fall to its maximum length at roughly around the middle of her back; just nearly reaching the top of her waist. The rest of Zelda's hair is a set of short bangs that cover the span of her forehead; reaching down to her eyebrows, as well as a set of long, thin locks of hair that frame her face. These locks come down to roughly under Zelda's eye level, and are pulled through a pair of small, dark blue hair beads that hang around the height of Zelda's eyelashes.

The first set of clothes Zelda was seen wearing in Wild Hunt were the result of her naivety to the outside world and a desire to fit in with other people. The end result being a rather revealing outfit that shows off the features of Zelda's lovely elf physique. Namely, they are a pink, sleeveless and backless shirt with a midriff and a set of three red hearts decorating the midsection where Zelda's cleavage would go; with the overall pattern of the design being a stack of hearts in various sizes: A small heart on top (between the breasts,) a mid-sized heart below it (with a curved shape, where the curve leans outward towards Zelda's left; giving the stack an off-balanced look,) and a larger heart at the bottom (placed in between the positioning of the top, smaller heart and Zelda's right breast; giving the stack a warped bow or "D" shape.) While the shirt is backless and has a midriff, it still has enough strip of cloth remaining to wrap around the middle of Zelda's back. Additionally, it is also fastened on by a pair of thin straps that are wrapped and tied around the base of her neck. The portion of the shirt over her chest comes just low enough to reveal some cleavage, albeit without showing too much of Zelda's bare breasts in the process.

The rest of Zelda's outfit consists of simple, white cut-off pants that end below her knee caps; with a brown belt and a silver colored heart buckle. And lastly, a pair of tan open toed sandals with a slight raised heel; each of which has a pair of straps that run up and over the middle of Zelda's feet, as well as a single strap located near her ankles.

Trivia[]

  • Zelda's name is taken from the name of the Legend of Zelda character, princess Zelda. The two characters share a bit in common with each other, such as pointed ears, being princesses, possessing clever wits and being gifted in magical powers. These traits are perhaps why Zelda was given the name she has now.
    • Beryl meanwhile, is a synonym for the color blue. This obviously makes reference to Zelda's blue skin. However, it may also be a play on the phrase "blue blood," which is a slang term meant to indicate someone of royalty or royal background, much as Zelda is.
